Fans of the first four episodes will look back on the journey to the truth of the Rokkenjima incident with fondness or disappointment. While I’m part of the former, I understand where its critics are coming from. The writer of the game makes a point to not outright explain one of the central mysteries to the reader and it leans heavily into the fantasy elements in the later episodes, giving it a different tone than the Question arcs. Despite this, it’s still one of my favorite visual novels. Ryukishi07’s art and writing are just as ridiculous as before and the soundtrack is somehow better. And the characters! Some of my favorite characters can only be found in Chiru.. This is the conclusion to literally my favorite VN/story ever created, an amazing murder mystery that I cannot recommend enough.. Well here we are, finally to the second half of Umineko! As someone who has personally read Chiru before anyone even dreamed of it being localized, I must say, this most certainly feels like a dream to me. As a sequel to the original four novels, Chiru shifts from focusing on crazy locked rooms and insane banter between a witch and a guy who should really learn to get over himself, to focusing on why Beatrice would even create such a bloody tale and what her identity really is. I won't mince words, Umineko Chiru has at times been derided in the VN community as being pretentious, overly convoluted and bit weird at times. And while I won't deny the aspect of Chiru being convoluted at times, I implore readers to have an open mind. RPG Maker XP [Ativador]
